GummySearch alternatives, sorted by the job you used it for
Updated October 1, 2026
GummySearch stopped taking sign-ups and payments on 2025-11-30 and closes for good on 2026-12-01, so the right GummySearch alternative depends on which part of it you actually used. For keyword alerts look at F5Bot or Syften, for leads at RedReach, Subreddit Signals or Pulse, for pain-point research at PainOnSocial or IdeaFast, for exporting threads to analyse yourself at an exporter like Comment Scraper, and for free brand monitoring at Reddit's own Pro Trends.
What happened to GummySearch
GummySearch announced on 2025-11-06 that it was closing because it couldn't reach an agreement with Reddit that fit Reddit's Data API policy (GummySearch's announcement). New sign-ups and payments stopped on 2025-11-30. Existing subscriptions run to the end of their billing period, and the site shuts down on 2026-12-01. It said it had more than 135,000 users, and Failory reported it was a one-person business making $35K a month when it announced the shutdown (Failory).
The reason matters when you choose what comes next. Reddit closed self-service API access on 2025-11-11 and requires a written agreement for commercial use of its data. Few of the tools below say where their Reddit data comes from. Ask before you build a weekly routine on one, because GummySearch users lost their tool to exactly this problem.
Start with the job
Most "Reddit marketing tools" lists mix several jobs together. GummySearch did a bit of each. Decide which of these you need first.
| Job | What you're after | Tools covered below |
|---|---|---|
| Keyword monitoring and alerts | A message when your keyword or brand shows up | F5Bot, Syften, Octolens |
| Finding leads | Posts where someone is looking for what you sell | RedReach, Subreddit Signals, Pulse, Leadverse |
| Pain-point and idea research | Problems grouped and ranked across many subreddits | PainOnSocial, IdeaFast, BuzzAbout, Reddinbox |
| Exporting threads for your own research | The discussion in a file you control, for your own analysis or AI | Comment Scraper, Reddit Comment Scraper (Adlicio), ExportComments, Apify |
| Free brand and trend monitoring | Reddit's own dashboard | Reddit Pro Trends |
We counted mentions in five r/SaaS threads about replacing GummySearch (about 220 comments, counted 2026-09-30). F5Bot came up 21 times, more than any other tool (1, 2, 3, 4, 5). Those threads were also full of self-promotion, so test anything before you pay for it, ours included. GummySearch's own alternatives page recommends eight tools: BuzzAbout, Adlicio, PainOnSocial, IdeaFast, Postpone, RedReach, ReplyAgent and Subreddit Signals.
Keyword monitoring and alerts
Judging by what people recommend in those threads, this is the job most GummySearch users wanted back.
| Tool | What it does | Price (checked 2026-09-30) | Link |
|---|---|---|---|
| F5Bot | Emails you when a keyword appears on Reddit, Hacker News or Lobsters. Running since 2017. | Free, $9.99 or $49.99 a month | f5bot.com |
| Syften | Keyword monitoring across 18 kinds of community sources, with Reddit alerts within about a minute. Running since 2019. | $29.95, $49.95 or $119.95 a month | syften.com |
| Octolens | Brand-mention monitoring across 15+ sources. | $159 or $499 a month, billed yearly | octolens.com |
F5Bot's free plan makes it an easy first step. The usual complaint about any keyword alert is noise: a broad keyword pulls in a lot of irrelevant posts, so budget time for tuning your keywords in the first week.
Finding leads
These tools look for posts where someone is asking for a product like yours.
| Tool | What it does | Price (checked 2026-09-30) | Link |
|---|---|---|---|
| RedReach | Finds posts that show buying intent, tracks competitors, and can send DMs automatically through its extension. | $19, $39 or $79 a month; 3-day pass $12 | redreach.ai |
| Subreddit Signals | Sorts posts by buyer intent and drafts replies with AI. Also sells a done-for-you service from $2,000 a month. | $29 or $59 a month | subredditsignals.com |
| Pulse | Reddit intent leads plus tracking of how AI answer engines mention you. Says 1,000+ companies use it. | $99 or $299 a month | usepulse.ai |
| Leadverse | Lead finding plus AI outreach. | $49 a month on its site | leadverse.ai |
Read Reddit's Rule 8 before you switch on anything automated. Since 2026-05-28 it lists automated private messages as a violation. A reply you write or edit and post yourself is a different situation from messages a tool sends on your behalf.
Pain-point and idea research
If you used GummySearch to browse a set of subreddits for complaints and product ideas, these are the closest.
| Tool | What it does | Price (checked 2026-09-30) | Link |
|---|---|---|---|
| PainOnSocial | Scans subreddits for pain points and scores them. Says 4,000+ founders use it. | $19 or $49 a month, 7-day trial | painonsocial.com |
| IdeaFast | Clusters pain points and suggests product ideas. | Free; $19 once for 40 scans or $49 once for 100, no expiry | ideafast.pro |
| BuzzAbout | Social listening across 7 platforms, paid in credits. | $98, $178 or $450 a month | buzzabout.ai |
| Reddinbox | AI research agent across Reddit, X, Bluesky, Hacker News and Facebook. Says 500+ users. | $39 or $99 a month | reddinbox.com |
These tools choose the communities and do the first pass of reading for you, which is quick when you're exploring a new market. The trade-off is that you're relying on their choice of sources and their summary. IdeaFast has a free tier and one-time packs if you'd rather not subscribe.
Exporting threads for your own research
This is the only job Comment Scraper does. It doesn't watch keywords, send alerts, find leads or crawl subreddits. You find the threads; it exports them.
| Tool | What it does | Price (checked 2026-09-30) | Link |
|---|---|---|---|
| Comment Scraper | Chrome and Edge extension. Exports the Reddit or Hacker News thread you have open to CSV, JSON or Markdown, opens collapsed replies, leaves out author fields, and writes an AI brief with quotes tied to comment IDs. | Free; Personal $12 a month or $108 a year; 7-day pass $19 | pricing |
| Reddit Comment Scraper (Adlicio) | Chrome extension, the most-installed in this category (5,000 users on 2026-09-30). Higher plans add more sources and team seats. | Free; Pro $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year (Reddit only, 1,000 comments per export); All Access $49.99 a month | redditcommentscraper.com |
| ExportComments | Website that exports comments from 20+ platforms. | Free (100 comments per export); $23 for 3 days; $45 or $199 a month | exportcomments.com |
| Apify Reddit actors | Hosted scrapers you pay per result. They can pull search results and subreddit listings, which Comment Scraper doesn't. | $1.19–$3.40 per 1,000 results | apify.com |
Exporting suits people who want to read the actual discussion, keep a copy and run their own prompts. With Comment Scraper you get every comment we could find in the thread, plus a count of what we know we didn't get, so you can judge how much of the discussion you're looking at. Single-thread exports are free and need no account. Personal adds batch export of your open tabs and 60 AI-brief credits a month. The 7-day pass ($19, 100 credits) fits a one-off research sprint.
The Reddit-to-Claude guide shows how to turn an export into a pain-point list with comment references.
Reddit Pro Trends, the free option
Reddit's own Pro Trends is free for businesses. It covers keyword monitoring, conversation volume, AI summaries of top discussions grouped by theme with links, and related communities, with no limit on keywords (Reddit Help, edited 2026-05-28).
There are two limits. Reddit Pro is for internal use, and its FAQ says you can't download other users' posts and comments, by hand or automatically. If what you need is a feel for how people talk about your brand and you're happy reading inside Reddit, try it before you pay anyone.
A setup that costs nothing
You can rebuild a good part of GummySearch for $0. Use F5Bot's free plan for alerts on your brand and competitor names. Use Reddit Pro Trends to see volume and themes. When a thread matters, export it with Comment Scraper's free plan and read it, or run it through Claude or ChatGPT.
What that setup won't give you is lead scoring or a tool that reads hundreds of threads for you. If those were the parts you relied on, the paid tools in the leads and research tables are where to look.
